November 8, 2008 - Missionary Epistle #1 by Dr. J.H. Abante
Dear IBBC Family,
The first leg of my trip in the Philippines is the Lighthouse Bible Baptist Church Great Commission Conference. I arrived last Thursday at 5:30 early morning after our plane did a 1 hour refueling in Guam. The flight from SFO was full but it was great and a blessing - the airlines gave me an unexpected free upgrade to the Business Class. I thank God for my wife, Fatima Manalang, and William for taking me to the airport.
During the flight, I was a little concerned about the result of the Presidential Election and the Proposition 8 in California. As an American citizen, I did my job in voting for somebody I believed best for the country. But God has another plan. Praise God Prop. 8 favored us. Since the Lord allowed Senator Obama to win, let us accept and respect him as the President elect of this great nation. It is now our duty to make this country and its citizenry see the works of the Lord through our testimony and service for our great Lord and Savior. Let us continue to pray for our USA, the Philippines, and the whole world.

My dear IBBC family,
It is early Monday at this time and still unable to sleep due to a great day the Lord has given me here in San Leandro IBBC. For a change, it was a blessing to be in the receiving end of God's gracious blessings and encouragements from His Word. Ptr. Julius gave a great message this morning about Joseph and how the Lord turned his Valleys into mountain peaks of victory. In the evening Pr. Marlon Buenaventura spoke about Not Limiting God in our lives based on Psalm 78. Read more.

* IBBC Kabankalan Update:
Dear Pastor,
Greetings from our God and brethren, we are glad to hear from u again. God is so good to us here for His Mercy & Grace continually abounding in us. He deliver us from all dangers & trials sore. We will have our 1st year anniversarry this comming July and we are praying for our speaker for this event, but the brethren is hoping and praying for your comming. A few months ago we experienced purging from God's Word inorder for us to be stronger in the faith. When we transfered to kabankalan it seemed that I started all over again as people here were not use to travel as far as for to worship. They use the old province way that mission house is nearby their residence cant even go to church how much more if it requires to travel as far as kabankalan. Some of the brethren couldnt bear & some could hardly but in great adjustments. People here were not use of it plus of the bad weather conditions, but by God's greatest challenges & provisions of His word preached unto them in our visitations, they were slowly attending now and adjusting on it. We experienced 5 in our attendance for almost a month but with prayer and supplications we praise God that we reach 15 todays meetings. What is good here in kabankalan is that all of us are adults & young people who could bear responsibilities as half of it are professionals. Now i'm in training on leadership and soul winning again for some of our members were transfered residence due to schooling, we had baptized 1 soul in operation go & one-on-one descipleship program (pls see pics). there are comming baptism for our prayers as we have new professions of faith as of these past few days. We are thankful to our God and to IBBC family who continually supporting us in prayers & finances as we continue still to move on in our journeys. We are thankful also for the success of our main aniversary sorry for the late greetings, we are glad, we prayed for it and God deed victoriously. Please pray also for our 1st year anniversary as we are preparing for it now that God will perform miracles on that day for those souls who were lost. We are praying for our speaker also, we are praying for you Pastor, and I already informed pastor danny if he could but he cant due to leadership materials preparations. Thank you for the feb n march support, we have recovered from financial difficulties thanks God for that, and for you Pastor for the inspiration you bring to us. Our brethren is aiming for your comming. And these are all because of the Love of our Lord and God Almighty! To Him be the glory forever & ever...

* IBBC Main in San Leandro, CA celebrated its 20th Church Anniversary on May 4th, 2008!
Here's the results:
"Praise God for the Victory last Sunday during our 20th Anniversary celebration! The Lord gave us an attendance of 456 counted but I was told possibly more,14 people saved and 2 baptisms. We do not have yet the final offering report but whatever it is, we already praise God for all His goodness. I know it should be close to $20,000.00+
We started the celebration with a conference that started on Wednesday evening. Every services became a revival meeting, sending our people to the altar to heed to the conviction of the Holy Spirit. Dr. Rudy Holland, a great friend over the years and named by Elmer Towns as the Pastor of one of the fastest growing Church in America was our special speaker together with Dr. Benny Abante, of Metropolitan Bible Baptist Church and a Congressman from Manila.
Other speakers are Evangelist Scott Winters of David Wood Ministries, Rev. Abraham Vallega of Blue Ridge Baptist Church and partner of IBBC in Church planting, Rev. Lito Santiago of Lighthouse BBC in Marikina and Missionary to Kenya, and yours truly who gave a lecture on Church Planting based on my recently finished book with the same title. (Attached with this e-mail). Attached is also the final copy of the doctrine of the Bride of Christ. Please get familiar with these publications and start teaching them to your workers and members. I will soon produce this in a book form.
I praise God for the attendance of most of our Pastors and preachers from our congregations in USA and Canada. Let us support our Annual Church Planting Conference at this time every year. Encourage to bring your workers and member with you. I want to encourage all those who attended the sessions this year to give a testimony to post in our website to encourage others. Please send it to me or preacher Marlon B.
I am currently traveling with Ptr. Benny in New Jersey and then to Boston to attend the graduation of my niece, Rita Abante who will be graduating from Berkley School of Music with honors (Summa cum Laude). We will proceed to Orlando, Florida to be with Dr. Dave Janney and then back to California on May 20.
This new year will bring a lot exciting activities and changes (for the better) for the glory of God in IBBC ministries. I will announce themin my next letter to all of you. God bless and To God be the Glory!"
